How to use chatgpt to build a personal brand: influential branding prompts

ChatGPT image for a neural network in the shape of a brain to represent a personal brand.

Pimping ain't easy but ChatGPt helps. Promoting yourself and building a brand is a challenge for even the most introspective individuals. Yet, leveraging social media for attention and profit is a growing strategy for many CEOs, thought leaders, and entrepreneurs. You could be great at what you do, but if no one knows about you, they can't hire you.

So, to introduce you to branding yourself here are a handful of prompts to get you started on your personal branding journey. These 7 clever prompts will get you clarity on your mission, values, and audience.

1) Define your unique value proposition

Use this prompt to describe who you are, what you do, and who you seek to serve. Add as much detail as possible. ChatGPT will sort it out to make sense.

Prompt 1:

I am a [your professional role]. I help [specific target audience] achieve [main outcomes you help your audience achieve.] "What are the key elements that define my personal brand and make me unique?” Before answering this question, ask me anything that will assist you in defining my personal brand and uniqueness."

2) Craft your brand story

Stories go viral. They are the key to communicating dense information. Stories are how we've passed down information for generations. As you define your personal brand, your story will allow you to connect and engage with your audience.

Prompt 2 in the same chat:

Throughout my journey I have faced these challenges [summarize any challenges you have overcome.] Given this information, what is the compelling story behind my personal brand? How can I craft a brand narrative that engages and resonates with my target audience? Ask any questions before writing a compelling brand story if needed.

3) Establish your online presence

Diluted focus gets diluted results. Not all social media platforms need your voice. Rather than wasting your time and energy on trying to win on multiple platforms choose one and double down. Twitter, Tiktok, Youtube, LinkedIn, Pintrest, or Instagram are all good choices. Using ChatGPT choose the one where your audience lives on the most. Consider your business goals and audience in your decision-making.

Prompt 3:

"Which online platforms are most relevant to my personal brand and target audience? Recommend in order of where my target audience are most likely to be. How can I establish a strong online presence on these platforms?"

4) Curate engaging content

With your value proposition in hand, a powerful story, and knowing where to post it is time to figure out what to share. Content that converts comes from generously giving value. Showcasing your expertise in a way that helps your viewers. Ideally, content should be tailored to the platforms you focus on. Use this prompt to begin generating ideas for your content.

Prompt 4:

"What valuable content can I curate and share with my audience to establish myself as an expert in my field? How can I consistently provide value and showcase my expertise?"

5) Engage with your audience

Next you need to engage your network. It's time to build those meaningful connections and talk to people. Connect and keep in touch with the people you meet. Imagine you went to a party, you wouldn't quickly scan the room and leave would you? This is no different. Leverage social media helps you stay top-of-mind. When people see your posts they remember you and interact with you. So, figure out how to keep your audience engaged with this prompt.

Prompt 5:

"Using [the main social media platform you’ll focus on], how can I actively engage with my audience to foster meaningful connections? What specific strategies can I use to encourage interaction and conversation? Create an action plan of 3 things I should do every day."

6) Leverage visual branding

Most people believe branding is just your logo, website, colors, etc. But that part of the journey only becomes a factor now. Once you're clear on goals, audience, value, and services it is time to engage in design work. Use ChatGPT to explore the visual elements of your brand. Update your profile and create consistency through your website, content, and digital touch points.

Prompt 6:

"How can I develop a visual brand identity that aligns with my personal brand? What elements and design choices can I use to create a cohesive and memorable image?" Use the resulting recommendation to brief a designer or AI graphic design tool accordingly.

7) Monitor and enhance your brand

What get measured get managed. Can't break records without making them. Define where you are today. Current engagement, number of followers or connections, monthly hits and visits, etc. Your personal brand will evolve and adapt as you get feedback on what works and what doesn't. As you create content you will learn what works and resonates with people. Learn, evolve, and grow.

Prompt 7:

"How can I monitor and assess the perception of my personal brand online? What steps can I take to enhance and adapt my brand as needed?"
